1/4 cup chopped onion
1/2 tsp minced garlic
1 stick butter
1 pkg chopped spinach, thawed and well drained
1-8 oz pkg cream cheese, softened
1/2 pound hot Italian sausage
1/8 tsp pepper
6 frozen phyllo sheets, thawed
Cook sausage & drain. Cook onion & garlic in 2 tablespoons butter.
Mix in with spinach, cream cheese, onion mixture, pepper & nutmeg. Melt remaining butter.
Cut each phyllo sheets into 4 strips lengthwise. Brush each strip with melted butter. Place approx. 1 tablespoon filling on one end of strip and fold end over filling at 45 degree angle and continue folding as you would a flag to enclose filling. Repeat until filling and phyllo dough is used. Bake ( in a single layer) at 375 degrees for 12-15 minutes
