Cream Soup Mix

1 cup powdered milk

1 tbsp. dried onion flake

2 tbsp. cornstarch

2 tbsp. chicken boullion  powder

1/2 tsp dried basil

1/2 tsp. dried thyme

1/4 tsp. pepper.

Add 2 cups cold water and heat.

Spice Applesauce-Nut Bars

1/4 cup margarine

1 cup sugar

2 tsp. vanilla

1 cup sweetened applesauce

2 cups flour

1 tsp. each baking powder and nutmeg

1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

1/8 tsp ground cloves

1 cup raisins

1/4 cup chopped walnuts, optional

For topping:

1/3 cup light brown sugar

1 tsp. cinnamon

Cream together margarine, sugar, and vanilla. Stir in applesauce. Blend flour with baking powder before mixing into creamed mixture. Add other flavorings; beat thoroughly. Stir in raisins and nuts. Spread batter in greased and floured 10×15-inch jelly roll pan. Combine topping ingredients. Sprinkle atop batter.

Bake in preheated 350-degree oven 15-20 minutes. Cut into fingers, bars, triangles, or squares, preferably fairly small.

Steamed Pumpkin Pudding

1/2 cup shortening

1 cup brown sugar

2 eggs

1 3/4 cups flour

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp each salt, soda, cinnamon, ginger and cloves

1/4 cup soured milk

1/2 cup canned pumpkin

Beat together shortening, brown sugar, and eggs. Mix dry ingredients and add alternately with milk and pumpkin to sugar mixture. Pour into greased 1 1/2 quart mold.

Steam 1 3/4 hours or until toothpick stuck in center comes out clean. Cool a few minutes. Loosen from sides of mold; remove. Serve with hard sauce or softened ice cream.

Breakfast Egg Dish

6 slices bread, buttered on one side(crust removed)

1 lb grated cheddar cheese

diced ham




6 eggs

1 cup milk

1 tsp salt

1 tsp dry mustard

Place bread, buttered side down, in the bottom of 9X13 pan.

Top with ham, cheese, etc. Beat eggs and mix with milk, salt and mustard. Pour over rest of ingredients and refrigerate overnight.

Bake at 325 degrees approximately 1 hour.

Pumpkin Bars

4 eggs

2 cups sugar

1 cup salad oil

1-15 oz can pumpkin

Mix above ingredients in a large bowl. Sift in the following and add to above. Stir.

2 cups flour

2 tsp cinnamon

2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp ginger

1 tsp soda

1/2 tsp cloves

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp nutmeg

Mix well and pour into greased pan 12x18x1 Bake 25-30 minutes @350 degrees


1-6oz pkg cream cheese

1 tsp vanilla

3/4 stick butter

4 cup powdered sugar

1 tbsp. cream or milk

Beat cheese, butter, vanilla, and cream together until soft. Add powdered sugar.

Makes 36 bars Freeze well

Chocolate Pudding Dessert

1st step:

1 1/4 cup flour

1 1/4 sticks of butter

1/2 cup chopped nuts

Mix flour and butter and then nuts. Spread in 9×13 pan. Bake 350 degrees for approximately 15 minutes. Do not brown crust.

2nd step:

1 8oz package cream cheese

1 cup powdered sugar

Cream together, add 1/2 container of 9 oz. Cool Whip (just fold in) Spread on cooled crust.

3rd step:

1 pkg instant vanilla pudding (3-4 oz size)

1 pkg instant chocolate pudding

3 cups cold milk

Mix pudding and milk. Beat until thick enough to spread. Spread over cheese mixture. Spread remainder of carton of Cool Whip over top. Put some nuts on top to garnish.
