Chocolate Nut Stacks

1/4 cup butter

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

1 egg

2 oz. unsweetened chocolate, melted

1/2 cup flour

1/2 tsp. salt

1/4 tsp baking powder

1 cup walnuts or pecans, finely chopped

whipped cream filling

8 maraschino cherries

Cream together butter, sugar, egg, vanilla. Stir in chocolate. Combine flour, salt, baking powder, nuts. Blend into chocolate mixture. Drop by tablespoonfuls on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Cool on rack. (Makes 24)  Whip 1 cup whipping cream, 1/4 cup powdered sugar, 1/2 tsp vanilla. Alternate layers of cookies and whipped cream. Top with cherry. (8 servings)
