Banana Cake

1 2/3  cup sugar

2/3 cup shortening

2 eggs

1 1/4 cup (3-4) mashed bananas

1 tsp vanilla

2 cup and 2 tbsp flour

1 1/4 tsp baking powder

1 tsp salt and soda

2/3 cup buttermilk

2/3 cup chopped nuts

Cream sugar, shortening and eggs until light. Add mashed bananas and vanilla. Mix well. Set aside. Mix dry ingredients together. Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk. Stir in nuts. Bake in 2 layers or 9″x 13″ pan, well greased and floured. Bake 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes.
