Dutch Apple Bake

1 1/2 cup flour

1/2 cup sugar

1 1/2 tsp baking powder

1/2 cup milk

1/4 cup melted butter

1 egg beaten

1 tsp vanilla

1 can (1 lb) pie sliced apples

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

Sift flour, sugar, and baking powder. Add all at once a mixture of milk, butter, egg, and vanillla and mix until smooth. Pour into 8″ inch square pan. Arrange apple slices on  top. Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon over apples Bake at 350 degrees for 50-55 minutes. Serve warm with Applescotch sauce.

Applescotch Sauce:

1/2 cup brown sugar

3 tbsp cornstarch

1 cup apple juice

3/4 cup water

Mix brown sugar and cornstarch well in a saucepan. Stir in apple juice and gradually. Cook and stir until mixture boils. Boil and stir 1 min until thick and clear.
